The Most Uncomfortable Seat in the Realm

AROUND THE WEB
by Steve Marzolf

Normally, sitting on the Iron Throne requires murder, betrayal and a rather loose attitude toward family boundaries... but for the next few days in San Francisco, all that has changed.  Visitors to WonderCon will get the chance to have their photo taken on the Iron Throne, as well as examine some of the costumes from the series, including Ned Stark's and Robert Baratheon's.  For those not lucky enough to be in San Francisco this weekend, some new images have gone online in an Entertainment Weekly feature that may help tide you over...

Reviews Are in for the Game of Thrones Food Truck

Game of Thrones Food Trucks
Union Square West (bet. 14th and 15th streets)

Game of Thrones fans waiting for Tom Colicchio's Taste of Westeros may find the 300-person line to be "a little intimidating," but Union Square's "ambiance of skateboards and farmer's markets" makes for a comfortable backdrop versus a busy intersection like Times Square, which "would be insane."  First-time rabbit eaters find the tender meat to be "gamey in an awesome way" and say it "tastes like chicken."  The stewed pistachios are a big hit among diners who "don't know what these green things are but keep eating them."  Itinerant foodies express "faith in Tom Colicchio" and note his wooden plates to be "a cool touch."  The trout with almond butter is served hot even if the customers' "toes are frozen," and the famous lemoncakes are "filled with ooey-gooey goodness" and "not overpoweringly lemony."  Overall, line-standers agree that "it's all worth the wait."

For anyone planning to pin down the trucks in Manhattan, the full menu lineup below should help you prioritize your efforts.  And if you turn out today to enjoy a bit of roasted trout with almond butter citrus mostarda, keep an eye out for the MGOT crew - we'll be there to hear your culinary reviews.

The Maester's Path: Westeros vs. West 42nd Street

AROUND THE WEB
by Steve Marzolf

Since yesterday's Maester’s Path challenge launched, we've been playing around with the new Game of Thrones weather app.  The scene in Ned’s courtyard does seem to line up pretty well with the view from HBO's offices here in midtown Manhattan...
